Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was promoted to chief congressional correspondent by 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. She was a member of an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy reports over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms and The Iran Contra affair. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
